Campus & Community Engagement
Bringing Badger Spirit to the community
The Campus & Community Engagement team does not believe that Badger Spirit ends at campus borders. The team is composed of 8 students who create events to raise money, bring awareness to a cause, or engage the community. The events range from having the entire freshman class of UW create a W on the field of Camp Randall to dinners with UW professors and alumni.
Badger Voices is an event put on by WASB in collaboration with WUD Music. At this event, students and local community members can participate in an open mic night at Memorial Union. Singers, musicians, bands and poets are all welcomed to share their voice with the UW community!
Take a Break with Bucky is an event put on by WASB at the end of the semester to give students a break from studying and exams. Located in College Library, students can stop by and get some snacks, color pictures and take a brain break amidst the stress of finals!
Food for Thought is an event WASB puts on in partnership with Slow Food. Students are invited to join us at Slow Food for an evening of delicious, home-cooked food and group discussions on topics related to food, sustainability, food culture, and more. Food for Thought was created to give students an opportunity to sit down, meet new people and thoughtfully appreciate the value of food, the production of it and the company we share it with.
Conversations on Wisconsin (COW) is one of WASB’s signature events where students go to an alumni’s home or a local Madison establishment to discuss their current Wisconsin experience. It is a great way for not just alumni to hear about what is happening at the University, but also for current students to network with alumni and discover how they turned a degree from Wisconsin into a successful post-undergrad life. COW is hosted twice a year, once in November and once in March. We greatly appreciate current hosts, and are always looking to add more!
